The Piston Trophy was created and established within the AZ CVMA on 17 May 2015 at the Annual State Meeting in Phoenix. Chapter 32-3 were initial custodians for the trophy.

After languishing in the desert heat of Casa Grande for months, 5 members from 21-4 braved the July sun to capture the trophy and race it back down south.
